The Fraunhofer pilot plant center requires a rewinding and slitting machine for UD tapes. The machine must convert UD tapes into various widths (3 mm, 9 mm, ½", 50 mm, 100 mm). Glass, carbon, and basalt fibers are used with various thermoplastics as matrix materials. The machine is essential for development purposes and for reinforcement of components in winding and lay-up processes.

At the Fraunhofer pilot plant center, UD tapes are manufactured and tested. These tapes are used in winding processes and lay-up methods. For these applications, it is necessary to convert the UD tapes into various widths. This functionality shall be provided by the rewinding and slitting machine.
