The project includes the four-track expansion of the existing line 5900 Nuremberg – Bamberg. It also includes the adaptation of the track plan and platforms in Bamberg station. Furthermore, it includes the four-track expansion of line 5100 Bamberg - Hof. The project also includes the new construction of line 5107 for the new connection of Bamberg port.
